Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add my child to Sortr Music?

After creating your parent account, go to Settings and tap “Add Child.” Enter your child's name and create a simple password for them. They can then log in using their name and password.

How do I approve songs for my children?

When your child requests a song, you'll receive a notification. Open the app, go to the Approvals tab, and review pending requests. You can approve or deny each song, and approved songs will immediately become available to your child.

Does Sortr Music require an Apple Music or Spotify subscription?

Yes — Sortr Music works on top of your existing Apple Music or Spotify subscription. At least one family member needs an active subscription to one of those services for the app to play music.

Can I have multiple parents in the same family?

Yes! You can invite other parents to join your family. Go to Settings, tap “Invite Parent,” and share the invite link. Both parents can approve songs and manage children's access.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Settings, tap “Manage Subscription,” then tap “Cancel Subscription.” Your access will continue until the end of your current billing period.

How do I delete my account and all my data?

Submit a deletion request at sortr.com/delete-account. Your account, family information, approval history, listening history, and music service connections are all permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.

Is my child's data safe?

Absolutely. We take children's privacy seriously and comply with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act). We don't collect unnecessary data from children, and we never share their information with third parties for marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Troubleshooting

Music isn't playing

Make sure you have an active subscription to your music service (Apple Music or Spotify) and have granted Sortr Music access to it in your device settings. Try signing out of and back into the music service if issues persist.

I'm not receiving notifications

Check that notifications are enabled for Sortr Music in your device settings. Go to Settings > Notifications > Sortr Music and ensure notifications are allowed.

My child can't log in

Verify that you're using the correct family code and child name. If you've forgotten the password, you can reset it from the parent account in Settings > Family Members > [Child Name] > Reset Password.
